Grundge Border

When it comes to the Hard Enduro scene, there is very few names that stick out like Paul Bolton’s. The Brit has been around for what has seemed like a rather long time but as time has gone by, he has only gotten better and grown each year and that is possibly how he earned the title “The Fastest Privateer”.

With the 2019 WESS series just a few days away, Redbull asked Paul to document his travels, training, riding and all round shenanigans in a vlog series called “Nuts and Boltons” which will be posted on Redbull’s YouTube channel. This is what happened over the course of the first episode for 2019.

The opening of the vlog sees Paul and wife Lisa talk about what the series will be about and what they will be documenting over the next few months, with the surprise announcement that they would be joined by a third Bolton as they were expecting.

Bolton arrives in Spain to do some training, riding in Torotrail with a group of riders which includes Carl Fogarty who is an (ex) World Superbike Champion “and all-round legend” says Paul. We are then treated to some great GoPro footage of some awesome looking single track riding, and some awesome scenery on-top of a mountain.

Whilst Paul is treated with some awesome riding conditions, Lisa runs around – sorting out final preparations for the WESS series. This includes packing boxes, getting the final branding on his race shirts and collecting his suspension from RSS.

Paul heads to have a training day in Wales, riding at Wern Duu Quarry in Gwyddelwern. Once again, we are treated with some incredible riding shots with some crazy hill climbs and gnarly downhills. Paul heads off to Hemsley, England for Round 4 of the British Extreme Championship. We see some real technical climbs and what great riding conditions the UK has to offer.

Unfortunately it would seem as though Paul has had an off somewhere on the track, and had to be attended by a medic when he returns to the race pit area. “That is just racing” Paul says. Unfortunately Paul suffered an ACL tear, which was their biggest fear. With this injury blow, it means that someone would have to take over the Vlogging “duties” from Paul. He calls Mani Lettenbichler, and passes the duties. We are definitely excited to Mani’s vlogs for WESS.

We wish Paul Bolton a speedy recovery.
